Hello Yves,

I've flashed your BCT, but my tablet still comes up.

Then I used a tool from nvidia to extract the BCT (nv-tegra.nvidia.com/gitweb/?p=tools/cbootimage.git)
The output from your BCT and mine are the same.
The odmdata is remarkable.

File Name: bct-cfg.txt
File Size: 11 KB

I've flashed Thomas' EBT on my tab and then it didn't boot any longer, same effect as for Thomas.
Don't understand why...flashing of the stock firmware should overwrite the EBT as well...

Can you send me your EBT to compare them?
Command is: nvflash --read 4 EBT.img --blob blob_new.bin --bl bootloader_encrypt_new.bin --go

Hello Mickey,

Could it be that our odmdata has changed when we've flashed Krook's CM10 V6.0 image ?
I remember that it was updating the BCT and EBT.
I would be curious to extract the blob.img form an LT ICS image and put it in CM10 V6.0 .

Here is my EBT file.

Hello Yves,

I can't remember that.
There is no blob in Krook's zip.

Thomas has reported that his tablet is working with my EBT.

But I want to know what's going on.
I messed around with
"nvflash --blob blob_new.bin --bct flash.bct --odmdata 0x30098011 --bl bootloader_encrypt_new.bin --go"
and tried different odmdata parameter.
After some time I was wondering, why my tab is so slow...it was reporting just 256MB memory
Setting odmdata to 0x30098011 or 0x300c0011 gives me back my memory.
According to the XLS you gave me some time ago, the size of memory is set by the first bits (0x3)
But when I use 0x300d8011 (odm for seaboard) my memory is also 256MB.

Maybe there some other difference in our boards?
And maybe the kernelmessages (reboot and "dmsg" from adb shell) can bring some more information about this?

Here's the beginning of my kernelmessages:

It's good to hear that Thomas has recovered his tablet.

You're right, there was nothing special in Krook's CM10 V6. Memory failure on my side.
The BCT/EBT update happened in CM10 V2.
That V2 image was specifically used to flash CWM recovery together with the new image.
If you remember, we were surprised to see the message in apx mode showing "flashing BCT" followed by EBT.
I've transposed the recovery flash procedure in the LT P9516 CM10 V6 (updater-script)
That's the reason why P9516 CM10 V6 is also updating EBT/BCT.
But where were the new BCT data in the image ?
I'm pretty sure that my odmdata was 0x300d8011 before upgrading to CM10.

About the odm :
I really don't know why changing bit 16 and bit 18 would affect the memory size.
Bit 16 is related to the UART's configuration.
Bit 18 is related to the console.

Perhaps it's due to another memory allocation (mem pages).

Hi Yves,

your EBT and mine are identical.
EBT from Thomas is different. Only the first 2MB are OK.
I don't know what's going on.

Thomas has flashed the "blob" file and he has seen the "updating BCT/EBT" messages.
This should have installed the correct EBT.
As well as the installation of the stock rom....
But it didn't work.

...hmmm

Hi Mickey,

Something wrong happened during the blob flashing when it was updating BCT/EBT.
Did he remark something special? He should have received an nvflash error

I believe that our EBT should be the same even with a different memory size.
When we receive the update via OTA (like with ICS rel 21), we all receive the same blob file via the air.

I will try next week-end to reinstall ICS 21 to see what happen with my ODMDATA.

I don't understand why CM10 V6 was also updating BCT/EBT because there was no blob in the image.
There was only boot and recovery images in the zip.
Perhaps flashing a recovery.img starts the EBT/BCT update as well.

Hi Mickey,

I returned my tablet back to stock ICS 4.0.1. It has updated the EBT/BCT but it did not change the ODM.
I've checked the ODM in the BCT file offset 0xFe4.
I suppose that Lenovo has changed the odm between the LT HoneyComb and ICS as the ODM is 0X30098011 in HC sources.

So I'm wondering how DA-T could have the LT HC odm?
It does not change the tablet functionality, but did you use the option odmadata in your rescue disk ?.

Re: Medion Lifetab P9516 AKA MD99100 ROM's & HOWTO's 8 years, 4 months ago #2008

Hello Yves,

thanks for your help.

How do you know which ODM was used in HC?

And yes, you're right, 0x30098011 is set by my CD. Repartitioning seems to need the ODM set.
I found this value in a nvflash wrappercript from Nvidia for ventana boards.
For my tablet this is working...as well as 0x300c0011...to me they seem to be the same.

Maybe you're right, I will send Thomas a script to update he ODM.
We'll see if it helps.

Hi Mickey

The ODM is defined in a bootloader source file in the P9516 DVD (HC sources)
The differences are only related to a console and a UART.
I thought that the UART bit was used because of the 3G modem that was not present in many K1 tablets.
I was wrong !

Your remark on ODM and repartitioning is quite interesting!
It can change the odm while partitioning.

Hello guys! I got here while looking for an update for my tablet. I am using a Lenovo K1 I am wondering if someone with a good heart can make a special ROM that will work both for Medion LT and Lenovo K1 (future Android 4.2.2 or 4.3) since that both devices are the same in some ways or a variant of one model/brand Or can K1 users use this ROMs for Medion LT? God speed and thank you very much

Hello,

I've patched and tested the last build from Kaschemme, published on android-hilfe.de, for the LT P9516.
Thanks to Kaschemme for that ROM build.

I've also modified the boot animation sequence as it was showing LENOVO K1 during the boot.
I had nostalgia for the original Lifetab boot animation (HC 3.2), so I've installed that animation extracted from the Medion DVD source disc !

bootanimation.jpg

The ROM image can be downloaded here :
www.avi-plus.com/repair-tips-forum/misce...or-upgrade.html#1657
This is a NIGHTLY build.

@Promet

That ROM is not compatible with the Medion P9514.
Your P9514 tablet is a clone of the Olipad 110 (Olivetti perhaps built by Lenovo) and the P9516 is a clone of the LENOVO K1.

If you are still running Honeycomb, you should have a look here for an ICS 4.0.3 custom ROM for your tablet :

You are welcome.

There is also a P9514 forum on xda-developers :

There are links to download the official OTA ICS image update and the wifi bug fix.

Thank you all for providing such stable tutorials
Got everything working though my home button is not working since the tab kissed the street some time ago
To control with my usb keyboard in the cwm recovery manager i just plug it in before rebooting, and then it works.
The v6.1 update flashes the cwm 6.0.1.0, don't know if you guys would like to change this for the guys flashing in the future.
I just flashed the cwm 6.0.1.1. over it again, because it supported the installation of a zip file from the external sd card,
which seems to be a nice feature to me.
