@Thomas

ADB on my tab also shows sometimes a strange behavior. For no apparent reason sometimes ADB tells me: "Device not found".

Previously the only workaround: the command "adb kill-server" and then reboot the tab.

Funny commands.
^SYSINFO and ^SYSINFOEX are Huawei EM820W AT commands.
I can get the answer via ttyUSB0.(with a SIM in the slot)

It looks like my Huawei modem is stuck in WCDMA !
As they don't use SIM card with WCDMA, it could explain why it says NO SIM CARD.
.....

Hi Yves,

I tried the same, with SIM inserted.

u0_a37@android:/ # echo -e "AT^SYSINFOEX\r" > /dev/ttyUSB0
u0_a37@android:/ #
u0_a37@android:/ # cat /dev/ttyUSB0

^SYSINFOEX:2,3,0,1,,3,"WCDMA",41,"WCDMA"

OK

u0_a37@android:/ # echo -e "AT^SYSINFO\r" > /dev/ttyUSB0
u0_a37@android:/ #
u0_a37@android:/ # cat /dev/ttyUSB0

^SYSINFO:2,3,0,5,1,,4

OK

Hope it helps.
Micky

Hello Mickey,

Thanks for the test with your tablet.
Although it shows WCDMA ( ) , this is really different !
2 = System service state = Valid Service.
3 = System service domain = PS + CS service
0 = Roaming service = No roaming state
1 = SIM card state = Valid USIM card state
- = reserved
3 = System mode = WCDMA (? )
WCDMA = SysMode_name
41 = Submode = WCDMA
WCDMA = Submode_name

So your SIM card is recognized and valid which is not the case in my tablet.
I cannot explain why it reports WCDMA.

The short form SYSINFO is consistent with the extended form.

Yves

[CORRECTION : WCDMA is 3G ! ]

It's curious that the second command does not give the same results.
It says that the modem is in TD-SCDMA.

Bonjour Yves,

strange enough, though, but in that point, SYSINFO an SYSINFOEX have different outputs.

SYSINFO
<sys_submode>:
System sub mode, the values are as follows:
0: No service
1: GSM mode
2: GPRS mode
3: EDGE mode
4: WCDMA mode
5: HSDPA mode
...

SYSINFOEX
<sysmode>:
System mode. The values are as follows:
0: No service
1: GSM
2: CDMA
3: WCDMA
4: TD-SCDMA
5: WIMAX
6: LTE

So in both commands, the output is IMHO consistent:
Restricted service
No service
Roaming state
USIM card not existent
WDCMA

Hello A.O

You are absolutely right.
I did not remark that difference.

Nevertheless, I've inserted a special SIM card with wire probes in my tablet.
The SIM card is well detected but never powered ! !
There is only a short power glitch upon starting up the tablet. The glitch is quite normal.
According to the datasheet, when the SIM is detected, the Huawei module raises the SIM PWR and keep the SIM powered.
It will need some surgery ... in the future.

Hello,

on AH we've just discussed the gps problem again.
For all who have cwm-recovery I've created an installable zip.

Here it is:
db.tt/1zbUl92A

It will backup your original files in /etc/gps and /data/gps/.backup (notice the dot, which makes it invisible; you need to use "ls -la" to see it)

BTW: I copied the original "lokal update" from ICS and I think it works with JB, but it doesn't accept my self-signed zip files

Hello Mickey,
Your zip update is amazing and quite effective.
It's very easy to install ... and after a reboot I got the fix within 10 sec !! (with GPS Test)
Thanks for that patch !
