I've edited the batchfile with a unix editor
That's a problem....

Here are the batch-files converted with unix2dos....

Yes the same

i have tested with Nvflash v1.8.90246

Re: NvFlash with the Medion LT P9516 tablet 8 years, 11 months ago #1629

Maybe the wrong DLL's.

Create a new folder.
Unzip this: www.avi-plus.com/download/nvflash-for-LT-P9516.zip
Then unzip this: www.4shared.com/zip/Omv-u3Oi/cwm-6011-boot.html
[or : https://www.dropbox.com/s/az22i6xtur7q2ks/cwm-6011-boot.zip ]
Both in the same folder.
When you are asked if you want to overwrite a file, say no.

Enough for me for today.
See you tomorrow.

Thanks for your help, Mickey

@ Windows users :

You need first to install the complete nvflash package in a directory.
www.avi-plus.com/download/nvflash-for-LT-P9516.zip

Bare minimum files in the Windows nvflash directory

Directory C:\nvflash

23/11/2012 14:09 <REP> .
23/11/2012 14:09 <REP> ..
07/06/2012 17:42 89.122 blob_new.bin
07/06/2012 17:42 1.393.296 bootloader_encrypt_new.bin
05/04/2012 13:40 54.272 libnv3p.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 45.056 libnvaes_ref.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 81.920 libnvapputil.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 43.520 libnvboothost.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 45.056 libnvdioconverter.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 80.896 libnvflash.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 101.376 libnvos.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 96.768 libnvtestio.dll
05/04/2012 13:40 44.544 libnvusbhost.dll
20/10/2012 12:59 221.696 nvflash.exe

Then you may unzip the batch.scripts tools from Mickey IN THE SAME directory.
This will insure that the appropriate Windows dll's are present in the NvFlash directory.

Hi

what are the difference between

CWM 6.0.1.0 and CWM 6.0.1.1 ?

And what is with the CWM 6.0.1.5 ?

Re: NvFlash with the Medion LT P9516 tablet 8 years, 11 months ago #1638

6.0.1.0 - only external sd-card accessible
6.0.1.1 - internal & external sd-card accessible
6.0.1.5 - buggy & ugly touch stuff

Hello,

I have used the backup-Batch to create a backup of all partitions.

During further actions, I somehow bricked the tablet (it will only boot to APX-mode - even without pressing Vol+ & Vol-). The nvflash command to flash CWM or boot to recovery give an error (see below). How can I use the backup to get the system to the saved state?

Hello Edgar,

bad luck....looks like you've screwed it up.

I was always thinking about a complete flash (we've only flashed particualar partitions so far).
Maybe now the time has come.

I'm not sure if we can write/create the whole partition stuff without the SBK.
So we start with a trick to restore EBT and BCT.
Hopefully this works...

The following instructions have not been proved, since we've never had this problem.
It's up to you to try it or not. Everything you do is at your own risk!

Download this dl.dropbox.com/u/99376551/Android/blob to your windows box into the directory where the nvflash.exe command is located.
Connect your tablet and enter APX-Mode.
Open a DOS-Box, go to that directory and execute the following command
nvflash.exe --rawdevicewrite 147456 616 blob --blob blob_new.bin --bl bootloader_encrypt_new.bin --go
Does it work?
switch off your tablet and switch it on again.
Is a message with "Start updating EBT / BCT" shown?

@edgar62

I'm rather optimistic on a successful recovery regarding that issue.
But I'm wondering where the "load address: 0x108000 entry point: 0x108000" comes from? (edited : is correct)

If you can still use NvFlash there is no reason to be unable to recover your system.
EBT/BCT were successfully updated with the CM10 V6 upgrade package.(together with the CWM flash recovery)

Just to revive the system, we've several complete nvflash upgrades available for the K1 that could be flashed in the LT.
We cross our fingers...

Hi Mickey and Edgar62

Regarding Edgar62 problem with

sdram config strap: 1

(Current value =1 instead of 0)

For sure the BCT is messed up.
That means that the BCT includes 2 SDRAM parameters sets instead of one only.

#define NVBOOT_BCT_MAX_PARAM_SETS 4

/**
* Defines the maximum number of SDRAM parameter sets in the BCT.
* The value must be equal to (1 << # of SDRAM straps)
*/

Perhaps flashing the BL like Mickey did would resolve that BCT corruption.

When I read posts from other users with the same problem, they write that fully draining the battery could resolve the bootloader loop.
It takes a very long time to drain the battery, so I would open the plastic back case (very easy) and just remove the battery power connector.
It does cost too much to try...

@Hi Mickey,
@all

I'm still trying to modify the Kaschemme CM10 nvflash package to fit with a 64Gb P9516 tablet.
I'm confused with the flash.cfg data compared to what I get when I run nvflash -- getpartitiontable

I've made an Excel with the different flash.cfg and partitiontables found vs the flash memory size.
https://www.dropbox.com/s/xq8fll4odz2jsym/partitions.xlsx
It gives a side by side comparison with different K1/P9516 tablet memory sizes.

If you get down to the data related to the UDA partition, there is something odd.
Some flash.cfg are showing a size= 3647483648 and other are showing a size= 3147483648
Mistyping ?
It looks like Khanning was first to use the same size in his AOSP build.

On the right side, there are partitions size given by nvflash --getpartitiontable
Do you know the relationship between the flash.cfg sizes and the --getpartition sizes ?

I've yet to find a correct flash.cfg for a K1/P9516 tablet !

Thanks
Yves

Re: NvFlash with the Medion LT P9516 tablet 8 years, 7 months ago #1966

Hello Yves,

first of all: There's no need to use nvflash if you want to install kaschemme's image.
It's OK if you boot into CWM and use dd to push the corresponding images to LNX and APP partitions.

For the sizes:
I did a complete complete flash of my P9516 last week.
And I also saw the difference sizes of the partitions.
Since the previous size was OK for me, I decided to build my own flash.cfg by using the sizes from getpartitiontable.
After some modifications everything went well and the partition size were the same as before.

Here's what I had to do:
Flash the blob (from stock image MD_LIFETAB_P9516_21_21_120604) into USP partition.
But I had to pad the blob with zeros to fill USP! With the original size of the blob, I ended up with a size of 3,5 GB for /data!
I haven't tried, but I think that a multiple of 4096 will work too.
Not flashing the blob will prevent the tab from booting (looks like it boots directly into APX).
Flash LNX partition! When I left the LNX partition empty, a lenovo image showed up and that's all.
Flashing USP (blob) and LNX (I used CWM-recovery) lets the tablet first update BCT/EBT and then boot into recovery.

I will attach a flash.cfg that I've built for the 64GB tablet.

Micky

hhmmm...I can't upload the file...?

Hi Mickey,

Thanks for your reply and the attachment.
I've made the SOS partition correction in my Excel file. Your value is obviously correct.

Yes I'm OK to flash the different files in their partitions using dd, but I was just trying to setup an
easy install package. I've already patched the boot.img with the P9516 VID/PID.

I'm happy that you confirm you are using the --getpartitiontable data to build up the flash.cfg.
I was not comfortable changing them without understanding why.

I confirm the padding problem with nvflash.
It works with multiples of the block size, the last incomplete block is considered as a complete block.

Not flashing the blob will prevent the tab from booting (looks like it boots directly into APX).

Strange. Don't know what the staging partition has to do with the boot process.
This is likely due to some parameter in the BCT that is used to reprogram the processor during the second boot stage.
Perhaps that partition is used as a temporary storage memory during the boot process. If not formatted, it hangs.

Flash LNX partition! When I left the LNX partition empty, a lenovo image showed up and that's all.

Normal. Lenovo has included the logo in the bootloader as it can be.
As there is nothing in the second boot stage (boot.img in LNX) the process stops.

Next week-end I will try to flash Kaschemme's image with the package adapted with your flash.cfg.
Thanks
Yves

Hi!

The same entry "sdram config strap: 1" is stated in my log.

My LT was quite unstable the last time in use. Now, it do not boot any more. It stops displaying the Medion logo.

I was able to run

Hi!

My Lifetab P9516 also hangs during the boot sequence.
I downloaded all the files needed from here.

I'm new to this and what I really don't get is how I save my pictures which are still on the tablet. Unfortunately I haven't saved them yet and I am worried they might be gone.

Could you explain to me in detail if and how I can save my pictures before I try to fix the boot problem?

Hope that's not a dumb question. Can I safe them or do I just have to live without them, when I try to fix it?

Thank you so much in advance. This was a very interesting threat to read. Amazing how skilled you guys are.

Kind regards,
T

Hi T,

I assume, that you're german and found us via android-hilfe.
On android-hilfe is a thread where we'd tried to recover the /data partition, where your pictures are stored.

Please read this:
