Hello,
I'm new to this forum and would appreciate your advice. I recently was given a used Sony Security Camera. Model SPT-M104A - Black & White. This device was removed from an apartment complex during renovations. Since it is an older black & white CCD model, it was headed for the trash heap. A friend of mine snatched it up and gave it to me. It appears to be in excellent physical condition, having lived a sheltered life. However, I have no way of knowing if it's operational. Naturally, I wanted to check it out and attempted to do so. The first thing I noted was that it requires a 24 VAC, 4.5 Watt power supply. I purchased a 25 VAC transformer from Radioshack to satisfy that function. This camera has a BNC connector for its output jack. I found a BNC to RCA adaptor to facilitate hookup via a patchcord to a TV Monitor. I wired everything accordingly and connected it to the video input of a standard television set. I got no response or output. The motorized lense doesn't even try to focus. This camera has no power indicator LED either. I don't know anything about this type of equipment so I'm not sure whether the output signal is composite video or some sort of digital signal. From what I have read, this unit uses the 60 hertz power to synchronize the vertical scan. I'm hoping somebody can set me straight and would really appreciate some advice on this. Thank you for your consideration.
Sincerely, Dennis Wheeler --->
